Emily Burden, LCSW

Purpose

As a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), I'm deeply passionate about supporting individuals on their unique paths to wellness. My own journey has been shaped by moments of struggle and triumph, which fuel my commitment to helping others find clarity, resilience, and fulfillment.

Specialties

I specialize in addressing issues related to fear, avoidance, self-judgement, and feeling "stuck", all of which can show up as anxiety, stress, depression, and/or post-traumatic stress.  I use genuine positive regard, compassion, and gentle curiosity to help you feel comfortable and safe.  We're in this together

What to Expect

Sessions with me involve exploring and processing the sources of your distress, without judgement. Together, we'll establish therapy goals, answer questions, and set the stage for our work with trust and understanding. Overtime, you'll enhance your insight, self-compassion, and skills for navigating distress, all to support you achieving your goals and nurturing sustainable transformation in your life.

Therapeutic Approach

I draw from evidence-based modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS), and I've completed advanced training in both.  Using these modalities, I help clients cultivate openness and flexibility, and engage with their values to connect with what matters most to them.

Goals

My aim is to empower you on your journey towards sustainable growth and transformation.  Living a life in which you feel more connected, present, and actively engaged in making choices linked to your values.  Whether you're grappling with past trauma, navigating difficult emotions, or feeling stuck in unproductive habits, I'm here to help you overcome whatever’s been holding you back.

Training

Originally from Georgia, I have lived in Las Vegas for 15 years.  I completed my Master’s of Social Work degree with distinction after earning a Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Philosophy, all from UNLV.  I completed post-degree training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy with Steve Hayes, Robyn Walser, and Kelly G. Wilson.  In addition to providing therapy, I am also the Clinical Director and Program Manager of two early intervention, clinical training programs at UNLV; POWER and CHARGE UP by UNLV PRACTICE.
